Introducing a New Player : Maxim Cormier
You heard it here first.
Award-winning Acadian/Metis guitarist and composer Maxim Cormier from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, is a now Morgan player.
A duo with his father Gervais Cormier, a composer and a multi-instrumentalist, Maxim is trained in classical, jazz and has performed across Canada and toured internationally.
He is recognized for his unique style, as he performs classical music differently— with a flatpick on a steel string guitar where as normally, classical guitar music is played on a nylon string without a pick.
From 2013-2016, Maxim was awarded Music Nova Scotia’s ‘Acadian Artist of the Year.’ He has also been presented with an International Acoustic Music Award for ‘Instrumental of the Year.'
When he's not working on his own music, Maxim spends his days teaching others. He has taught at the Gaelic College in Cape Breton, facilitated workshops for Celtic Colours International Festival’s “Roots to the Room” program and taught guitar with Feis Rois in the highlands of Scotland.
“His desire to do things differently led to his playing classical guitar with a flatpick, and it's not just a worthy experiment, it's a revelation.” (Bob Mersereau/Top 100 Canadian Blog)
Proud to put a Morgan in your hands, Maxim.
